Spanish Patriots

Soldiers at the presidios in Santa Fe, New Mexico, San Antonio, Texas, and San Francisco, California, which were under Spanish rule during the American Revolutionary War, donated money through tax assessments to the cause of the American patriots.
King Carlos III of Spain did not want his enemy, the British, to win this war,
hence a tax was assessed on all soldiers at these presidios.
The Daughters of the American Revolution recognizes the descendants of these soldiers as eligible members. This list of Spanish soldiers has been thoroughly researched, documented and approved by the NSDAR.

The names of the soldiers stationed at the Santa Fe Presidio are noted with an *.
